A Very Happy Teachers' Day
Dear 5NA,
Thank you very much for a wonderful teachers' day celebration.
I couldn't find the right words to say because my heart was too full.
I'm sure your other teachers felt the same way - Mr. Gan shared with me that this was the first time any of his students in GSS had organised a "class party" for their teachers. He was especially touched because he had only taught half the class for a few months.
I think that was the best part, that you took the initiative to honour all your subject teachers, even if they only taught 3 or 4 people in the class. It shows a great generosity on your part. I was so proud to be your form teacher. :)
I was also moved to hear everyone sing "I'm Yours," especially when nobody sang it in Lifeskills the last time. :P
Growing up, I always thought I would become a theatre artist or a writer. Teaching had never been my top career choice.
Somehow, things worked out this way, and to my surprise, I found that I really love teaching. It has transformed my life in ways I could not have imagined.
When I graduated from university three years ago, I thought my heart had stopped working. I had achieved everything I wanted, but I felt nothing. It was terrifying.
Thank you for bringing the sunshine back into my life.
A few things I have learnt in my short career as a teacher:
1. Very few things go according to plan, whether in the classroom, or in life.
2. The only thing you can plan for is to be as kind as possible to the people you meet.
3. If you learn how to love the people around you, regardless of who they are, you will never be unhappy.
Life's like this, just when you think you have everything figured out, it's time to go.
My wish for all of you: no matter how many times you fall down; no matter how many times your heart gets broken; I hope you never lose faith and hope in life.
There will always be people around to support you, like how you are supporting each other right now.
Let's do our best for the prelims, and in this final lap towards our GCE 'O' levels.
Let's leave this school with no regrets.

PS: I forgot to add - let's have a class lunch outing on Oct 9, right after the graduation ceremony. I have pizza hut vouchers for 3 free regular pizzas! :) Some folks suggested going to Jurong Point Pizza Hut, but some Pizza Hut staff said that their biggest outlet is at United Square. I'll make some calls over the holidays, but in the meantime, save the date!
